Guinness Uganda has joined the Corporate Sports Network as a partner. This was confirmed during the July outing of the monthly sporting event, which was held on Sunday, July 28, at MUBS Arena in Kampala.
In its maiden appearance at the Corporate Sports Network, Guinness brought fresh energy to the occasion. Typically, match days concluded early in the evening, but this time things were different. For the first time, the event extended deep into the night, with revelers enjoying cold pours of stout while also taking on the opportunity of winning goodies and Guinness merchandise through the different engaging activities.
Guinness’ involvement does not come as a shock. The brand continues to support the beautiful game in its different capacities, be it Old Boys Leagues, English Premier League and now, Corporate Sports Network.
“For Guinness, this is an opportunity to expand our reach in the football community hence our sponsorship. We are committed to supporting initiatives that bring people together, shine a light on talents and deliver an exciting experience for fans of football,” said Patience Aguti, Project Manager Uganda Breweries Limited.
Meanwhile, on the pitch, various companies competed in a series of matches that featured football, basketball, and netball.
I&M Bank had mixed results: they beat Hariss International 1-0, drew 0-0 with Stanbic Bank, and then lost 1-0 to Housing Finance Bank. I&M Bank’s team captain, Sadam Kiremye, expressed optimism about their performance and future prospects. ‘Overall, we are doing quite well despite some challenges in this outing. However, we will focus on the positives from the games we won,’ he said.
Manifest TV were crowned champions of the basketball league after an impressive performance throughout the campaign. Hotel Africana finished the season as second while Centenary Bank capped the podium. This was the debut year for the basketball league.
The next outing of the Corporate Sports Network is scheduled for August 25 at Luzira Prisons Sports Grounds and it will feature football and netball. But before that there’ll be a networking night happening this Friday at Lambertini Lugogo.
